16th December 2018: Father Christmas and a host of walkabout entertainers added a burst of festive joy to the town centre during the popular Santa in Luton event.

Luton Business District Improvement (BID) arranged for Santa, Mrs Claus, Christmas elves, stilt walkers, jugglers and dancers to meet and greet families on Saturday 15th December as they performed throughout town centre streets.

The event took place on one of the busiest retailing days of the year and was all part of Luton BID’s programme of free Christmas events, aimed at adding extra festive sparkle and building the reputation of the town centre as a great place to shop and be entertained.

“The festive-themed entertainers brought real fun and joy to the town centre,” said Stuart Sadler, Luton BID director and owner of Sadler Hair & Beauty.

Santa in Luton was the BID’s fourth Christmas event – the BID supported the borough council’s Christmas Market, arranged for Peter Rabbit and Paddington to be at the Christmas lights switch-on and organised carol singing on St George’s Square. The final carol singing event on St George’s Square will take place on Saturday 22nd December and be performed by Luton Choral Society.

“We’ve been thrilled with the positive feedback about the Christmas entertainment we’ve organised this year, reinforcing our commitment to promote Luton town centre and bring more visitors into the area during December and all year round.”
